Résumé | Developing FE models for complex ship hull geometries presents a major challenge. For example, in ANSYS, building a FE model for a marine vehicle is time consuming and complex process. In this paper, a procedure for a faster and cost effective way to import and mesh CAD models of marine vehicles into ANSYS is presented. A FE model for the Canadian Patrol Frigate (CPF) was created in CADKEY. The model was converted into IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification), and then imported into ANSYS. In ANSYS the model was meshed using both free and controlled meshing tools. It is aimed that this FE model will be used as a part of the ship library in the Marine Dynamics Virtual Laboratory MDVL. Using MDVL numerical tets will be conducted and the results will be compared to data from the physical model tests. |
