| Abstract | This report describes the results of series of experiments conducted at the Institute for Marine Dynamics (IMD), Clear Water Towing Tank (CWTT), during the winter of 1989 on the design of a large full form bulk carrier with three different bow shapes fitted to a common middle and after body. Resistance experiments were performed on the three models at a level load draft condition and the best of the hull forms further tested in the trim ballast condition. Self-propulsion experiments at both drafts were performed on the best hull. The model propeller open water characteristics were determined for the propeller alone and then fitted in a duct. |
