Abstract | An algorithm for transforming icing conditions on board ship into tunnel-controlled parameters is presented. This algorithm was incorporated into a numberical ship icing model developed at the University of Alberta for fishing vessels and for a marine icing model to suit the specifics of the Marine facility at the U of A. The model results are well correlated with the experimental ice growth data generated in the Marine facility. As the algorithm to transform ship icing conditions into the icing tunnel conditions is verified, a study would be of interest to naval architects and to scientists involved in marine icing modelling. |
