Résumé | A semi-classical trajectory model is used to calculate the magneto-resistance of submicron-sized dots with entrance and exit quantum point contact leads. A comparison with experimental data allows the determination of the electron density and the mean free path for the confined regions and shows that these parameters can differ from their equivalent "bulk" values. It is found that for realistic geometries the calculated conductance is extremely sensitive to the angular spread of the collimated beam but depends only weakly on the effective width of the quantum point contacts. © 1994. |
