Résumé | During the period covered by this report, some minor alterations were made to the circuits of the receiver, but work mainly concentrated on the development of antennas and crystal mounts for operation in both the S- and X-bands, and on the installation of experimental models of the NR-20 set in ships and aircraft. Progress was made in the development of cylindrical antennas for installation on both ships and aircraft. A satisfactory crystal mount was designed for S-band operation, which is very compact and gives uniform response over the desired band. Investigations were carried out to determine the effects of crystal detector bias on both sensitivity and detector response. Installations were made on several ships of the Royal Canadian Navy and on Avenger and Lancaster aircraft. Some evaluations were carried out with satisfactory results. Cossor (Canada) Ltd., of Halifax, were granted a development contract for the NR-20 receiver which has been assigned the designation AN/UPD/501. The pre-production prototype constructed to JCNAAF specifications will be available shortly. |
