Résumé | The CW-423 rigid radome designed and built by Long Sault Limited of Canada for Rome Air Development Center, Rome, New York, was tested to determine its effect on the performance of an AN/FPS-6 antenna. It was found that the radome meets all but one of the specifications set up by RADC. The specified maximum loss in transmission was two and a half percent in field strength. The actual measured value was found to vary from three to seven percent, depending on what part of the radome was in front of the antenna. If the small panels near the top of the radome were replaced by large panels, similar to those located near the equator, the average loss might be reduced considerably. |
