Résumé | During the past two decades, a large number of multidirectional wave facilities had been built around the world. In parallel, wave generation and analysis techniques have also advanced so that it is now possible to ensure realistic wave conditions that mimic the nature in laboratory basins and flumes. With these capabilities, testing of coastal and offshore structures can be carried out with greater accuracy ensuring thereby optimal designs for structures in terms of cost and safety. This chapter provides a brief review of the wave generation and analysis techniques that are commonly used for simulating uni- and multidirectional waves and also shares the experience gained at the Canadian Hydraulics Centre of the National Research Council Canada, in this field. |
