Résumé | In this paper we explore the use of large permeable rock-filled cages as an innovative, economical and effective means of reducing overtopping on a large rubble-mound breakwater exposed to energetic breaking waves. The results of a physical modelling study demonstrate that significant reductions in wave overtopping can be achieved by erecting crown walls comprised of permeable rock-filled cages. The testing program included several different arrangements of rock cages and also included a sensitivity analysis with regards to rock cage permeability and interlocking friction. |
