Abstract | The melting plateaus of three Co-C fixed points for radiation thermometry with different constructions were measured and compared. Two of the fixed points were of the hybrid type and contained either carbon composite cloth or pyrolytic graphite sheet between the graphite sleeve and the crucible wall. The third fixed point contained only the graphite sleeve. Little difference was found in the shapes of the melting curves between the fixed points. Given a comparison uncertainty of 37 mK (k = 1), there were, however, significant differences in the melting temperatures determined for each of the fixed points. Over three days of measurement, the melting temperature of the fixed point filled using the pyrolytic sheet drifted up by nearly 140 mK. |
