AbstractThe objective of this study is to examine the safety and accuracy of the existing load distribution method in the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC), CAN/CSA-S6-06, using advanced modeling techniques. This study compared the analytical results of the live load distribution on a rigid frame concrete bridge, obtained using the Simplified Method of Analysis of the CHBDC with the results of a three dimensional finite element model (3D-FEM).
