Abstract
There is little empirical proof that greater individual control of office environments have tangible benefits. In fact, some studies have shown that control can actually be detrimental. The NRC Lighting Quality research project indicates that personal choices were not only in conformance with standards and guidelines, but were viewed as highly satisfactory as well. Moreover, many of participants in the research project made choices that led to lower energy consumption.
