| Abstract | The interest of the Associate Committee on this problem extends back to the very earliest days of the Committee. In 1947 the Committee sponsored a conference at which snow and ice problems were discussed. It was recognized at thattime that greater attention should be given to snow removal and ice control. Since then considerable attention has been given to this problem, primarily by those responsible for winter maintenance operations. The experience accumulated hasbeen such that in 1964 the Snow and Ice Subcommittee of the Associate Committee was able to sponsor a two-day conference on the problem. The Proceedings* of this conference is a useful record of experience, as well as a sourceof information on the cost of winter maintenance and the factors that influence it. |
