Abstract | Blade stress distribution was measured near the tip of a highly skewed propeller in a cavitation tunnel. The present measurements are characterized by the following aspects: measurements were made near the blade tip where the highly skewed propeller blades are broken, the propeller was tested behind the complete ship model with flow liners in the cavitation tunnel, i.e. full scale cavitation and wake distribution were simulated, and reverse propeller rotation was investigated as well as normal rotation. The present results from the model correspond well with those from the full scale. The flow characteristics with propeller reverse rotation are discussed as well. |
