Abstract
This paper presents results from a series of measurementsof sound transmission through concrete block walls with drywall attached on five types of furring systems. Although block walls have been in use for many years, there was and still is a need for new measurements. There are several reasons for this. There are differences among the transmission loss (TL) data presented in the literature for block walls. H Improvements in measurement techniques that render old data obsolete, and differences in materials, construction and laboratory facilities, explain some of these differences. Whatever the reason, these differences make it difficult to see trends and draw conclusions from published data.
