Abstract
Here is a case history of the damage done by frost action in the ground under a specific cold storage plant together with the remedial measures suggested. Such studies are infrequent. The damage seldom manifests itself fully in less than five years. The information pertinent to the case is often lost to review in the interval. It would appear that in many instances designers either do not appreciate fully the dangers involved in building on frost-susceptible soils or fail to provide adequately for the prevention of freezing of such soils in their designs.
