Abstract | The engineering aspects associated with the launching of four scientif1c sounding rockets are described. The vehicles, AE-II-24, AD-II-52, AA-II-53, and AA-II-60, were launched from Churchill Research Range in March, 1965. The launchings were a continuation of the series sponsored by the National Research Council's Associate Committee on Space Research. The report includes a description of payloads, the objectives of the experiments, the launching phase, and a discussion of the processed engineering data. The payload for AE-II-24 was fabricated by the University of Toronto for high-altitude pressure measurements, and presented some unusual pre-launch problems in a requirement for continuous vacuum pumping until just before lift-off. |
