AbstractThis paper reports advances made in the understanding of foam deterioration in fixed-pipe fire suppression systems based on full-scale testing. The work led to the design of sophisticated air injection hardware with a special nozzle that improves foam quality. The result is a compressed-air-foam system provides improved performance especially for critical locations like aircraft hangers, where flammable materials and high ceilings pose a challenge.
