AbstractThis literature review surveyed recent research and development pertaining to the non-destructive evaluation of infrastructure. Key words used included: sensor technologies, wireless networks, non-destructive evaluation techniques, bridge/structure management systems and assessment models. The report discusses challenges and identifies future research opportunities for developing decision-making support tools for the life-cycle management of built structures. This information was sought as a precursor to the possible use of sensors and wireless networks for supporting an integrated management system structure (from planning, design, construction to operation) to provide information for condition monitoring and maintenance planning.
