Abstract | In this paper we present the results of a Fourier self-deconvolution and least-squares analysis of the MIR spectral data for KZn₁₋ₓCoₓF₃. An interpretation is given in terms of low-lying electronic transitions within the ⁴T₁g(⁴F) ground manifold of Co²⁺ ions and their vibronics. We also present some new absorption data for this material for frequencies in the FIR where the electronic transitions occur between ground-state levels (degenerate Γ⁺₆ levels in single ions) split by the magnetic exchange interaction between Co²⁺ ions in clusters. |
