AbstractMobile compressed air-foam (CAF) is a new fire suppression system that can produce superior quality foam with high momentum. NRC undertook studies to evaluate the effectiveness of mobile CAF systems. Several full-scale compartment fire tests were conducted to compare the fire suppression performance of a manually-applied CAF system with that of hose stream applications using water alone and using water-foam solutions.
