| Abstract | The meeting was opened by Mr. Legget who welcomed those present on behalf of Mr. C.L. Merrill and himself. He explained that the purpose of the meeting was to provide a broad general review of the research work which had been done into permafrost not only i n Canada but also in Alaska. It was, therefore, a special pleasure to welcome the American guests present and to note t h a t they included some of those most expert in permafrost knowledge in North America. |
