AbstractMuch of the laboratory work being done in the Division of Building Research, National Research Council, in connection with moisture penetration and strength of bond of brick masonry has made use of small assemblages of brick and mortar consisting of five bricks laid one above the other with mortar joints between. The assemblages are constructed by a method for determining the tensile strength of bond between brick and mortar by means of crossed-brick couplets.
