AbstractThe purpose of this review paper is to draw attention to the moisture redistribution process induced by frost action and to indicate the type of investigations that have been carried out to understand the phenomenon. The importance of the ice lensing mechanism, the influence of pore and particle size on heaving pressure, and the influence of the thermal regime during freezing on moisture redistribution are special aspects that have been emphasized.
