Abstract | Building officials in Ontario do not always follow very closely what is happening at the national level because Ontario has its own code development process and its own code, even though it is based on the National Building Code of Canada. However, there is strong support at many levels of government and industry in Ontario for a new and improved code review and development system that has been proposed by a joint task group of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) and the Provincial/Territorial Committee on Building Standards (PTCFB). This could change the way codes are developed and reviewed in Ontario. |
