Abstract | C-SCOUT (Canadian Self-Contained Off-the-shelf Underwater Testbed) is a modular autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) designed for a variety of long distance survey missions. Its first mission will be as a control systems testbed at IMD. The initial configuration is appropriate for use in the fresh water of the Offshore Engineering Basin and for initial trials in Long Pond nearby. It is designed to withstand depths of 10 m and temperatures as low as 0 deg. C. This report follows the design of the hull structure for the initial configuration from design criteria to CAD drawings. It also includes comparisons of other hull designs that were not used, calculations for buoyancy and the preliminary budget. |
