Abstract | This paper presents the results of 12 heat exposure tests (1 hour) carried out on full-scale wall and floor furnaces using 5 water-cooled Gardon Gauge heat flux sensors and six different (five of each) temperature sensors. Comparisons of the measured average temperature and average heat flux in fire resistance tests using wall and floor furnaces controlled by either ISO plate thermometers, ASTM shielded thermocouples, directional flame thermometers, bare bead thermocouples, sheathed non-grounded or by sheathed grounded thermocouples are presented. Also, comparisons of the predicted incident heat flux, based on average measure temperature, vs. measured incident heat flux in wall and floor furnaces controlled by six different temperature sensors is presented. |
