AbstractThe phase diagram of water is extraordinarily complex. Many studies have suggested that liquid water may exist in a glassy form at low temperatures. The determination of the glass transition temperature has been a very challenging problem. In his Perspective, Klug describes the difficulties encountered in trying to measure the temperature at which the glass transition occurs. He highlights the report by Velikov et al., who propose that the transition occurs 30 kelvin above the commonly accepted value. If true, these results will require a rethinking of the phase diagram of water.
