AbstractA time-temperature relation was used in a field problem to predict concrete strength gain at below normal and variable temperatures. Good correlation with core strengths was obtained at early ages even though assumptions had to be made as to the time of casting, the actual temperatures in the concrete, and its strength characteristics. The usefulness of the Nurse-Saul maturity function was demonstrated in this case. Factors affecting precision and areas of practical application of the maturity relation are discussed.
