Abstract | Campbell's theorem ensures that all vacuum space-times in general relativity can be embedded in five dimensions, with the 40 scalar curvature expressed as an effective cosmological 'constant' Λ which depends on the extra coordinate. This Λ-landscape can be used to give insight to certain physical phenomena, such as the big bang and quantized particles. |
