Abstract | Current practice of assessing a masonry mortar for a specific project on the basis of laboratory tests on mortar containing the materials specified for the project is subject to criticism because of disparitybetween laboratory and construction site methods for mixing mortars. Some masonry authorities are suggesting a new approach in the form of mortar specifications based on field testing procedures.Data is required to delineate the disparity between laboratory and field -mixed mortar and also to indicate satisfactory test methods that can be used in the field. |
