AbstractThe open rain screen principle presupposes that if the pressure difference across the vented cladding of an exterior wall system is zero, then one of the factors that drives rain into the building envelope is inhibited. Laboratory measurements of the time taken for pressures to equalize across the glass cladding of a metal and glass curtain wall unit and the subsequent transient load on it are presented and discussed. Aspects needing further consideration are also identified.
