Abstract | Water treeing, a type of degradation that occurs under the combined effects of moisture and electric field, is largely responsible for premature failures encountered in extruded HT, distribution cables. While considerable research effort has been devoted to the study of the initiation and growth of water trees there has been little work to determine the final breakdown mechanism of water treeing. |
