| Abstract | This document contains translations of selected papers from the 1979, 1980 and 1981 issues of the Journal of Glaciology and Cryopedology published by the Lanzhou Research Institute of Glaciology and Cryopedology Academia Sinica. These papers were of special interest to Canadian permafrost workers. Papers provide information on the nature of permafrost studies carried out over the last thirty years, differences between permafrost in China and the Canadian North, geotechnical classifications of permafrost used in China, including such topics as the active layer, discussions on permafrost classifications, periglacial processes, frost heave, hydrogeological investigatory methods, ice content, mapping, pingos and other related topics. In all 20 papers have been translated into English. |
