AbstractA study is made of the behaviour of ductile (metal) and brittle (glass) panels under dynamic wind loading. The results show that the effect of such factors as dynamic amplification, rate of loading and ductility can generally be neglected. Failure risks implicit in North American codes are compared; some changes in design rules are suggested, including an increase in safety factor for glass windows in tall buildings.
