AbstractWhile Australia and other countries have forged ahead with the introduction of ?performance-based? national codes, Canada has taken a more cautious approach. Combined with the implementation of a new model codes development system that more effectively engages the constitutional authorities responsible for building regulation, Canada will introduce its ?objective-based? codes in late 2005.
