AbstractA long-term study has been started in the Materials Section of the Division of Building Research which is intended to produce useful data on Canadian materials used in concrete, with particular emphasis on durability. Samples of concrete and concrete mortar are subjected to freezing and thawing, wetting and drying, and the conventional mortar-bar expansion test. Volume changes are recorded and compared for each condition.
