Abstract
A unique test bed is required to support existing research and collaborative projects. It must insert a needle into different materials and measure the force versus depth profile of this penetration. Some devices exist, such as syringe pumps, which could move at controlled speeds over a defined distance, but none of these would hold the new, patented, Needle Attachment Fixture with its built-in force sensor.
