AbstractAir that leaks through the exterior envelope of a building is a significant component of the heating, cooling and moisture loads of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems. The prediction of air migration routes and flow rates within a building is also important in relation to the control of contaminants, such as smoke and odours. This paper describes a procedure for calculating air flows and pressure differentials that will occur in a multi-storey building as a result of a combination of wind effect, stack effect, and operation of air-handling systems.
