Abstract | This translation is the thirteenth and last from the Russian permafrost publication "Principles of Geocryology", Part II ( Engineering Geocryology). This translation of Chapter XII reviews the principal aspects of engineering site investigations in permafrost areas. It begins with a description of the aims and scope of engineering site investigations in permafrost areas and instructions for carrying them out. A considerable portion of the text is devoted to electrical resistivity methods of obtaining information on permafrost. Field and laboratory investigations of the engineering properties of frozen soils are reviewed. Methods are presented for analyzing data obtained in site investigations and the compilation of a report. |
