AbstractThis report presents a comprehensive review of the numerical methods for fracture analysis and crack growth simulation. The detailed procedures of the finite element and symmetric Galerkin boundary element alternating method are described and a related software is introduced. Evaluation cases were studied by conducting fracture analyses and crack growth simulations with different crack configurations for the purpose of verifying the alternating method and the software. The obtained results were compared with experimental data and other numerical results. Good agreement was achieved.
